Fluorescent Rocks
Details on my small collection of fluorescent rocks.
This is an unfinished post that will receive additional content and editing in the future.
I’ll be adding details about the minerals in each rock, their localities, and add additional rocks from my collection. However, for now you can look at the pretty pictures.
Reminder that you can click on the photos to see them full size..
Here are some recent acquisitions for which I have good photos and descriptions.
- Hydrozincite (FL Blue SW), Calcite (FL Red SW)
- 4.6” x 4.3” x 1.9”, 40oz
- Sterling Hill Mine
- Sussex County, New Jersey
- $56.25, from James Horste, 8/9/24
This is probably my nicest white light specimen. If you enlarge the photos, you can see the golden cubes of pyrite and purple fluorite emerging from a forest of white quartz crystals.

- 5.4” x 2.7” x 1.2”, 13.5oz

- $75, from James Horste, 8/9/24
On the left:
- Willemite (FL White, Green SW, Orange, MW, Phosphorescent), Fluorite (FL Blue, SW, MW, LW)
- 3.4” x 2.5” x 1.7”, 7oz

These were my very first fluorescent rocks, generously gifted to me by Steve Caldwell. You can see several Franklin pieces with Willemite and Calcite, along with a Fluorite and calcite piece from I think the Purple passion mine in Arizona, as well as a crystal of Fluorite.
